LAL is a Toronto-based electronic duo lead by Rosina Kazi and Nicholas Murray. Coming from the worlds of hip hop, punk, electronic and experimental music, LAL blends their influential beats and melodies with lyrics of anger, sadness and possibility.
LAL’s new album Dark Beings is heavily influenced by electronic music (hip-hop, house and techno), and embodies their vision of creating spaces of inclusivity and freedom, where people come together to feel safer, dance, explore, take care of each other, and collectively heal.
typotherapy worked closely with LAL to create a collection of package designs and marketing materials for their 6th album release.
The project consisted of a 12-inch LP vinyl, 7-inch single release, digital album artwork, concert posters, and a promotional CD package, along with merchandise materials that included three different tote bags and t-shirt designs. A custom typeface was also designed specifically for the album to compliment the spellbinding artwork by visual artist Syrus Marcus Ware.
To ensure LAL’s music is obtainable by their entire fan base, both the 12-inch vinyl and the digital album artwork were designed with accessibility elements, such as brail, and an accessible reader PDF for the visionally impaired.
