Jay Manuel calls his job “the business of managing the aesthetic”. His make-up skills are always in demand by such established names as Tyra Banks, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Cattrall, Naomi Campbell, Iman, Vanessa Williams, to name a few. Jay is currently the Fashion Correspondent for E! Networks, and the Host of The Style Network’s makeover series, “Style Her Famous”. He is however, most recognized as the Judge and Creative Director of photo shoots on the popular reality television show, America’s Next Top Model.
typotherapy worked closely with Jay to understand his values and expectations when developing the brand identity and marque. The new marque illustrates a plan view of an abstract make-up bottle, while the custom designed logotype redefines a futurist modern approach to fashion and beauty. This new visual language led typotherapy to look at the idea of incorporating different materials, custom print techniques and a distinct futurist approach to the design.
The outcome was a unique interchangeable promotional package that unfolded to reveal famous super models strutting Jay’s make-up artistry. In addition, custom silk-screened, die-cut business cards were designed, made from translucent vinyl plastic to embody the spirit of cutting-edge fashion and sophisticated style.
