The University of Toronto Faculty of Music is Canada’s largest and most renowned university-based music institution. Established in 1918, UofT Music has long been a Canadian leader in academic and artistic excellence in musical creation, performance, education, and research.
typotherapy was approached by the Faculty of Music to design a book to showcase the faculty’s wide range of undergraduate and graduate level programs offerings, and help recruit future students to enrol into UofT Music courses.
The Viewbook embodies the faculty’s central mission, and tries to convey exceptional student experiences, among a multitude of vast resources, and rich opportunities for interaction with the world’s leading scholars, composers, educators, and performers.
To give the book a strong visual presence, typotherapy used custom typography for the title identity and to highlight each section. Bifold Sans was designed specifically for the project, the custom typeface suggests the process of music composition and performance. Peppered with quotes from accomplished alumni and world famous guest performers, the two toned gradient coloured images throughout the book, creates a varied and vibrant presentation.
